20. Terry Butcher
Although born in Singapore, Butcher will always be remembered as a true Englishman with the heart of a lion. Butcher was an uncompromising player, strong as an ox with the courage to match. This was evident during a vital world cup qualifier in Sweden. Butcher had suffered a deep cut to his forehead, an injury so bad that most players would have simply left in the first available ambulance. However, Butcher is made of sterner stuff and after a few impromptu stitches and a quick swath of bandages Butcher continued and won almost every header for the rest of the game. Butchers white England shirt covered in blood to a point where it was almost red remains as a defining point for a true England legend.
