19. Bert Trautmann
Trautmann was once knocked out after receiving a heavy blow to the neck in the 1956 Cup Final. After recovering consciousness and with no substitutes allowed, Bert decided to play on. A heroic last 15 minutes ensued where despite his injuries Trautmann made many great saves to help Manchester City hold on and lift the cup. Three days later an x-ray revealed that Trautmann in fact had broken his neck!
